Snow Days and Hats

The decision to close school on Tuesday was a little upsetting because nothing happened weather wise. I guess everyone was "snow shy" because of the previous disaster that caused students, administrators, and teachers to be stuck in school and parents to be stuck out on the roads. On the bright side of things, the time off has allowed me the opportunity to take off my teacher hat and put on my reading cap. I love to read and sadly I haven't had the opportunity since I started teaching. Over the past two days I read a 468 page novel. It was so nice to cuddle up on the couch with my dog and my fuzzy blanket and get lost in the pages. While the unscheduled time off from school brings its own set of issues, I put those worries aside and just READ. Today I am refreshed and ready to tackle lesson plans, blogs, and webpage assignments!

  1. Hey Courtney,
Like you said in your post, it's good to just chill on the couch and enjoy whatever you love to do. Although I've caught up on school related assignments, I'm still procrastinating on grading papers which is sad because I have nothing to do! haha.

One thing I have to disagree with you on is I would rather the state be more safe than sorry. It snowed quite a bit in the area I was. I guess I feel differently because I was trapped in my car for 11 and a half hours so I'm like "Shut it down!" haha.

  2. The Tuesday snow day was like you said, a better safe than sorry type of situation. I was stranded at a friend's place in downtown Atlanta for a day. Thank God I know people who live downtown or I would've been one of the people stuck in their cars for 12+ hours max. I really relaxed most of the break and ate way too much. Us teachers need to just relax on the couch every now and then.
