BLESSED & PROUD
This week, our CTAE departments had to participate in the Federal Compliance Review. Of course, the big wigs from all over the state of Ga. came by to make sure our programs are in compliance. Anyway, I was questioned about what I felt I needed to have in my classroom/lab in order to do my job better. I proudly stated that I felt that I had everything already. Our program is blessed to have the equipment it has, and that it is up to me and within me to make it a great program. I take pride in knowing that I can not be replaced by technology. I feel that the life lessons and teachable moments can't be taught by a Smartboard.
Pamela, as always I enjoyed reading your post. Maybe your last statement is an essential key to what is going on with the school systems presently. The technology is important but I believe that the teacher, teaching is the key. What happens if the technology fails, many would be immobilized for the day? There is more to learn about teaching, but what I have learned is that we do have everything we need. We have knowledge and understanding of our fields. We have passion for our areas of concentration. One of the biggest resources that have been more endearing and helpful to me has been the teachers I meet at NTI. You are truly inspiring. Keep up the amazing work. And yes, the teacher cannot be replaced by equipment. Freda
ReplyDeleteWell, I dont even have a smartboard.:-) However, I agree with you. We do have all we need, and you know what? Teaching has to come from within, I do want a smartboard though. I'm going on my second year. I must say that it is better this year, with some of the things that I have learned from NTI. It really is amazing, if you just go with the program and get over yourself and your fears. How great of teacher you may become. Thanks to Burns, Chillis, Montrois, and all of my classmate.
