Hi folks. Are any of you having problems with administration putting more kids in your class than is allowed. I am aware that Paulding county has asked for a waiver to put 35 kids in any class. I do not have the room for more than 28. Honestly, I don't think I can mange 35 kids in a shop setting. Well, more later. Thanks y'all,
Wood
yes, i just had a meeting today with the counselor. i have the same problem. i just sat down and worked out a compromise for the both of us. i have a little over my limit, 31, in a class with only room for 28. but it stopped her from putting even more in there. i also had to agree to put some 2nd and some 3rd level students in the same period, but i got to choose who went in there. try to just talk to them...and bring chocolate! it helps :-)
ReplyDeleteWe only allowed 28 at the most they took some out of my class on Monday.
ReplyDeleteUnless the waiver goes through we can only have 28 by law in tech classes. I double checked with DOE this afternoon. Trouble is, principals like to make rules for us while breaking the ones over them. I think that if I compromise now there will be more ground lost later. Besides, I have kids sitting on the floor because there is no more room for desks. Well, wish me luck.....and patience.
ReplyDeleteNice work !!
ReplyDeleteI've had the same problem. I had to physically invite them to my room so they could see the class size.
ReplyDeleteYup, my principal came in today during 2nd. He said, "woah Wood, you are packed!. How many are in here? I said, "30 are on the roster but Mr. Plunkett(Asst principal over tech) is removing two and we have 28 warm bodies here today". He then said, "this is way too tight, some will have to be moved, there is no where for them to work on a test". Well, I thought, you are preaching to the choir!!! The moral of the story? Bring your admin in to actually SEE how packed your room is. More later................Wood
