What I know and learned about administrators
School administrators basically run the school. They cover all aspects of school function to make sure that the school is running smoothly. Some of what I learned from the administrators at my school deals with the following issues and tasks: Plumbing, Electricity, Phones, Water, Teacher Observations, Lesson Plans, Parent Moderators, Teacher Moderators, Student Moderators, Discipline, Hiring, Firing and anything else that comes up. All of the administrators at our school are former teachers. I’m not sure why they decided to become administrators, because from my point of view, teaching is easier! I understand that the pay is much better than a teacher’s, but the headache that seems to accompany the pay is discouraging. At least this is how I feel about an administration job right now. My opinion may change in the future.
They have so much to do on a daily basis that its unreal. Any school events that take place they have to stay after school for this as well as all the other things they have to do. I really don't see how they have the time for family life being in a posistion that requires so much of there personal time. It really takes a special person to serve in the role as a school administrator.

ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your post and I agree that there are several things that an administrator must focus on throughout the school. I have to commend the administrator who sometimes set aside their own personal life for the benefit of the school. I have seen on several occasions where my principal have missed school functions with his own kids to make sure a function at our school was properly ran. I agree being an administrator is not in my immediate future but who knows what the future holds.

I agree with Keio and Bernardo, an administrator is not what I look for in my future right now. They really have a lot on there plates. Yes, they do run the school, and are at all the functions/ games. There should be a balance some where for them. There is no way all these school functions can come before my family. I know that now that I have become a coach, it takes a lot of my time, but I can bring my kids to our home games with me. I'm greatful for that right now.
