Open Mic

My AP asked me to be the lead advisor for Skills USA.... Needless to say, I didn't need one more thing on my plate. She said that we needed a homecoming float and to shoot for 40 members this year. So the ACCT areas collaborated and we were able to put together a float for last week's homecoming parade. The float was full of students from Engineering, Construction, and Automotive! I was the driver, towing the float for the mile journey through Towne Lake. It ended up being a pleasant experience. My wife and baby came along for the ride. The students spent time together outside the classroom. A mother even came up to all three instructors and thanked us for our hard work. She stated that if it wasn't for our courses, her son may not still be in school because he struggles with all academic classes. How nice!

I didn't want to be a sponsor for a club, but perhaps this will be a fun experience for all this year.

  1. Welcome to the club, same thing happened to me, one week to cough up float and no funds. I pulled it off and have my skills group. The skills group turned out great, they are participating one to two hours after school weekly to try and be competitive. They are highly motivated and one of the best things going this year. Teaching this group has been rewarding .
