Open Mic
I would have say that working with the journalism class on producing our first news paper. Normally I would not work with these students, however, they asked for my help. These students are amazing especially with their skills in all aspects of producing this paper. Not only did they produce our first newspaper, but created a school web site. It was very easy to keep these student engaged. The pictures and the art work was fabulous. We have some very talented art students. The students were given a free hand in what they wanted the paper to look like and the articles that they included. I thought the web site was of very hight quality. Maybe the only bad part of it was that I have been asked to write a Cagle's corner.
Making a news paper sounds like fun, but I'm sure there are difficulties with it too. The students obviously seemed to find a way to relate to the assignment. It sounds like they were highly motivated and driven to do the project. Good luck, your students sound like they are doing weel, and should accel!
ReplyDeleteThe students on the news paper seem like the students we would all love to have. As our own and our classrooms. May I suggest a (Students Corner) edited by Cagle? Just a thought! KenB>
ReplyDeleteGreat suggestion, Ken, although I am looking forward to Cagle's Corner - you sure you have time to do that, Gerald?
