Open Mic Pathways or Not That's the Question
Why are we telling kids that they don't need a pathway? Why are we telling kids that they won't need concentration? Are they telling us to look for a job? Somebody explain to me what's going on
You know Walter, I was thinking the same thing. To the best of my knowledge, they are mixing us in with secondary language classes. They may chose to concentrate or not. They must also choose between us or a foreign language class which I have no worries about. This is just the information I recieved. I think its all gonna be alright.
There have and will be some major changes to career tech next year. I don't know al of the detail, but I do know that the students no longer have to choose a career pathway. You know the diploma requirements are changing and next year there will be only one diploma for incoming freshmen, so we will eventually just be elective course with no career pathway.
I think everything will be ok. As of next year students will have to complete 16 credits, which includes 4 science. All CTE subjects if taken will be counted as 2 credits. Pathway will be ok.
GPS Pathways are being implemented in 3 phases. Tech Prep is being eliminated; however, the students will still be encouraged to pick a vocational pathway.
Bottom line we will have to recruit more than usual to make sure that are classes stay full.

Yes, I hope all these changes will be for the better. Guess we will all find out soon enough...
