Trying To Let Go

I have got to quit worrying so much about if I am doing the right things. I lay in bed at night and can't remember what I did, If I completed a certain task, did I say the wrong thing to a student? All of these thoughts go through my mind. I can't wait to have some years under my belt where I don't worry quite as much. I know I am doing the best that I can but, I sometimes feel it is just not enough. There are definitely not enough hours in the day to complete it all. I just need to chill out!

  1. That just shows evidence that you really care about your job and your students. Even though you may think you are doing a bad or incomplete job, if you are thinking about it, that means you are giving it all youve got. The students will appreciate you for it.

  2. Hey Tracy,
I do the same thing! I do my lesson plans and plan my learning activities at 2:00 am.! I think they call it PASSION! I don't think about the administration and how I need to try to please them. It's more about the challenge of coming up with new ideas to constantly make things better. I'll be glad when this thing becomes more like clockwork so I can focus more on helping the kids with their social problems. It seems that a lot of the real hinderance to learn comes from all of the outside problems. Hang in there. Shane's right!

  3. I worry about the same things that you worry about!!! Everything is new and we need to learn how to adjust from old jobs to all the responsibilites of our new ones. I am really looking forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas vacation!!!!

All we can do is our best and to always put the needs of our students first. All the rest of the details will fall into place when the timing is right.

  4. Tracy , I agree with Shane ,Dwayne, and Steven .From knowing you for the past few months at N.T.I I can tell that you"re a very caring person.Remember this is not a job where everything is set in stone. There are so many variables. It's going to take all of us years to get to where we feel comfortable about the job we're doing. So don't fret jump on the rollercoaster hold on tight and let out a big yell and have a little fun.I'm sure you're doing a great job.

  5. Tracy,
Remember you were a RN before you were a teacher. In our profession of nursing we are trained to make sure we are doing the right things because if we are not someone's life could be in jeopardy. We come from the background that we have to complete skills and task perfectly or they are not correct. We are constantly evaluating our performance because that is what we have be trained to do. The good thing about teaching is if we mess up in the classroom, we can come in the next day and try a different approach. I think that you already have the best qualities of a good teacher, you want to do your best for your students, adminstration and school system. Don't stress yourself out to much or you will experience burn-out which we know, as nurses, can happen. Jamie
